Introduction to a future Animator 😁

If you've been reading my blog post since the day I started, you have read my first introduction. However, I haven't really talked about myself. So in this post, I will along with questions from the tasks we have given. 😁

My photo from last year

First of all my name is Flosie Jane Sazon, I am currently a 2nd-year student studying Creative Digital Media at the Technological University of Dublin located in Blanchardstown Campus. I'm 20 years old (even though I don't look my age πŸ˜‚) and I have been living in Ireland since I was 13.

This course wasn't actually my first choice even though I love art. My first choice was something about business and language which was way different from what I'm doing now, but I'm really happy that I'm doing what I love. Even though there were a lot of times convincing my parents but everything went well in the end.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  • What was the best class you took last semester? why?
Even though I enjoyed Web Development and Design Process & Practice, Digital Photography is still the best class that I took last year. Because of the pandemic, I got to experience DIY photography at home which was challenging as we had to think of some ways to practice using our photography skills. I was also happy with the outcome of my brand photography at the end!

  • What was your biggest accomplishments last semester?
My biggest accomplishments last semester was to be able to pass all my modules. Even when being in quarantine, I was still able to focus on my projects and complete them on given time.
  • What are your goals for this module? What do you want to achieve?
My goals for this module is to try my best to learn more techniques and improve my skills. I also want to master my time management and I will try to submit my work before its due.
  • Did you do something exciting during break?
Yes, I did something exciting during break. I created my own photography Instagram which took me a lot of courage to do as I didn't have any confidence on my work. I also designed my friend's first poetry book cover which was another accomplishment for me and seeing my name as the designer makes me feel proud of myself.

This the first book cover that I designed.

I think this will be the end of my blog tonight!πŸ˜‚ Again, thank you for reading my blogs and I hope you get to know more about me~

  1. Hey Flosie, I'm happy to hear that you got a course in an area that you enjoy, even if it took some time to convince your parents, like everyone says , if you like your job you feel like you don't work a day in your life. It's pretty cool how your'e getting to design a book cover, definitely going to be something to add to a future portfolio of creative work.

  2. Hi Flosie! I loved your introduction blog post! It was interesting to learn that your first choice was astronomically different to what you are studying now. I am glad that you are in this course and love it. I am happy that you built up the courage to make a photography page and I am sure your images are amazing! The poetry book cover you designed is awesome and looks very professional. That is a major accomplishment especially being only a 2nd year student! <3

  3. Hi Flosie,

I know the struggle of convincing your parents that Art was a good choice to pick…trust me (Asian jokeπŸ˜‚). They were also disappointed at first considering I almost failed the leaving cert. At least I’m in college tho right? Lol.

Anyway, Digital Photography was also one of my favourite modules last year. It was tough doing the Photography Assignment last year since we were stuck at home, but your photo still turned out great.

I like the design of the book cover you created by the way. Lookin’ really professional considering you had no book cover designing experience.

  11. Hi Flossie good to meet you
first I have to say the first part of this was hard to read, black writing over a gray background is not a good combination. Second ya I agree it was hard to make a good produce shot at home all I had was some lamps and a phone but yours turned out pretty good.

  13. Heya Flosie,

Doing this module was also a surprisingly good choice for me so I'm glad you're enjoying it just as much as me :) That whole second semester last year was something else but at least right now we're a bit more organised right now since we're still learning from home :D I have no doubt you will be an amazing animator by the end of this course! I seen your art and your very talented. I wanna go the same direction after this course but I got a lot to improve on art-wise before I go for that career choice :'D

  14. Hey Flossie, I hope you are doing well! Since this is an introduction post I'll talk about the first time you introduced yourself to me, it was the first day of college and we were in the basketball court room thing doing all the team challenges and you told me your name and I thought it was such a cool name.
Anyway, the book cover you made for your friends looks so nice, I love the colours you used, all compliment each other and your photography assignment from last year of the watch looks amazing! I could never get the hang of getting the reflection of the jewellery piece using a mirror, if I would show you my attempts you would laugh, which is okay because I would too!
I really enjoyed reading your introduction post, take care.

Game Idea Research

Maze  Inspiration Last week, I started to collect some game ideas and talk about what we like about them. However this week, we have to choose on out of all the game ideas we picked. The game that I decided to do is similar to "Roller Splat!" but in 3D instead because that is the type of game we are learning in Unity. I think that it will be helpful as I can utilize the skills that I learned from the tutorials to my project instead of studying another type of game. I will have more time to develop my game better if I stick to 3D style as well. Choosing this type of game is also a good starter, especially for people who want to make a game for the first time like me. My game will also be played in a first person point of view means that the camera of will be placed at the back following the ball inside the maze. While doing my secondary research, I find countless of game tutorials on YouTube that are related to the idea I am going for. Most of them are also made in Unity which

Exploring Game Design

Inspiration image about discovering new things We started this week's tasks by reading articles about defining what a game is to a more detail and in depth explanations.  I used to define "game" as one or multiple players who works together to complete certain tasks with a set of rules that they must follow whether they win or lose. However if I put more thoughts into it, the definition gets more profound and brings me more in depth about what a game truly is. As I read though the first article that was talking about particular definitions of what a game is depending on how much interaction they have with it. For example, the more interest they have about games the more knowledge they can share with people. There is an interpretation from the article that I like based on a book called "Rules of Play" by Katie Salen and Eric Zimmerman. They explained that games are a "system in which players engage in an artificial, defined by rules, that results in a quanti
