Unity Tutorial 03

Unity Lesson 2 screenshot. This week's Unity Lesson is about making a new game where we have to feed the animals. We also have to know how to do Player Positioning, Food Flight, and Random Stampede. Last night, I was having trouble with the Unity website because it won't play the video tutorials and the software wasn't working properly. Fortunately, when I tried again this morning it starts to work fine. When I started the lessons, I didn't have any problem completing them because they are explained well and it was straightforward. I'm also becoming more comfortable doing the lessons and the tools are more familiar to me now which I am happy about. Here are the things that I learned while doing the lessons: Lesson 2.1 New functionality  - Where the player can move left and right based on which one the user's presses (L&R keys). I also learned that the player will not be able to leave the play area on either side New skills/Concepts: if-statements adjusting

Games MDA

Taking Notes Link For this week's reading task, we are going to talk about how to analyze the game design and research properly. We were given two articles to read and they are called "MDA: Formal Approach to Game Design and Game Research" by Hunicke, R. LeBlanc, M. & Zubek, R. (2004)   and "Design, Dynamics & Experience (DDE) for Game Design" by Wolfgang Walk, Daniel G ö rlich and  Mark Barret . We also have to watch a video explaining about MDA Framework. Link to an external site. MDA stands for Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetics and it helps to clarify and strengthen the iterative processes of developers, researchers making it easier for them to break down, study and design a range of game designs. Design methodologies also guide the creative process and help ensure quality work. as designers always consider assurance before making changes. "Games are created by designers/teams of developer and consumed by players" There is also a differe

Feedback Stretegies

Feedforward The first article that I read is called "Try Feedforward Instead of Feedback" by Marshall Goldsmith. He talks about how feedforward is more helpful than getting feedback. I learn that getting a feedback can have a negative effect to the person who is receiving it because they tend to get personal on their suggestions which some people cannot take. This is when Feedforward enters. Feedforwards is all about people listening to suggestions for the future then learn and help as much as they can. There are also eleven reasons to try Feedforward, but I will be only addressing some of them that I find personally works. 1. We can change the future. We can't change the past. Feedforward helps people focus on a positive future and not a failed past. This means that people who use feedforward does not concentrate on the mistakes of what the other person have, instead they give them advices on how to improve their work better for the future. I also think that giving peo

Game Idea Research

Maze  Inspiration Last week, I started to collect some game ideas and talk about what we like about them. However this week, we have to choose on out of all the game ideas we picked. The game that I decided to do is similar to "Roller Splat!" but in 3D instead because that is the type of game we are learning in Unity. I think that it will be helpful as I can utilize the skills that I learned from the tutorials to my project instead of studying another type of game. I will have more time to develop my game better if I stick to 3D style as well. Choosing this type of game is also a good starter, especially for people who want to make a game for the first time like me. My game will also be played in a first person point of view means that the camera of will be placed at the back following the ball inside the maze. While doing my secondary research, I find countless of game tutorials on YouTube that are related to the idea I am going for. Most of them are also made in Unity which

Tech-Tip: Google Maps!

Another day, another blog post~ This week, I will be trying another Tech Task which is how to embed a map on my blog post. The location that I choose is South Korean, Seoul because it is one of the places that I really want to visit. Most people want to go there because they want to see their K-pop idols but for me, apart from wanting to see my favorite Korean Idols, actors and actresses, I also want to explore their beautiful culture and I want to go to the places where my favorite Korean dramas where located. 😊💖                                         Starfield Library in Gangnam💖                          Street image in South Korea Traditional Houses
