As usual, I have been trying to start my last blog for this week, but because I procrastinate so much I never ended up doing it. I feel like I always keep saying (I'll do it tomorrow morning), knowing very well that I am actually not a morning person!😂. Anyways.... I am doing it again, moving away from the main topic. *facepalm*
Today I will be talking about the time management which is ironic for me as I have been procrastinating before doing this blog. We were given multiple articles to choose from and read at least 2 of them to help us manage our time and keep our head on track with college work.
Even though it is only the 2nd week of semester, we already have plenty of things to do, whether it is a tasks or labs. I've already found myself overthinking and feeling pressured to be able to submit the work on time. I also find it hard to stick to my planned timetable for this specific module that I created last week because there are tasks that kept coming.
The articles that I read was:
- "Four Questions to Help You Overcome Procrastination" by Peter Banerjea
- "How to Beat Procrastination" by Caroline Webb
- "The Important Habit of Just Starting" by Jory Mackay
1. Were the articles useful?
Yes. I really found the articles that I read very helpful because I know what I needed for this semester (which is to overcome my procrastination). It also made me reflect and realize how many excuses I put to avoid doing the work. Caroline Webb's article was right, because I always find myself choosing easier tasks.
2. Did you learn anything new that you can try this semester?
I took notes while I was reading the articles and most of it are just simple advices but have a strong impact in me:
"Something is better than nothing"
"The most important key is to commit and stick with it regularly"
"Missing deadlines for no good reason, is really no good reason"
"Work for your future, not just for an immediate impact"
"Instead of thinking PRACTICE, change it to PREPARATION"
Whenever I read this it gives me an energy to start my work and even though I only did small tasks, I still appreciate it and think about it in a positive way.
3. Do you already have a time management strategy?
Yes! I actually have a strategy that helps me to feel motivated to do my tasks and it is also in one of the ways that can beat procrastination: Pre-commit Publicly. I will always try to tell my friends what I will try to accomplished and do during this week and it always work! I also like being surrounded with hard working people because it inspires me to work harder as well. That's why I am still not used to work at home as I always study with my friends or go to cafes or library wherever there's people who do some work.
I also remember reading about some advice from the articles saying: 'Tie the first step to a treat" which is my most favorite advice of all 😂. That makes me think that I could make my Korean Drama as a treat after finishing hard tasks and even thinking about it at this moment, it lit a fire inside me making me feel motivated to just finish all my tasks for today so I can watch my Korean dramas (some are still pending waiting for me to finish them 😂😂).
Park Bo Gum being cute hihi😍💖 You should watch his new drama guys! "Record of Youth" |
