Tech Tip: Twitter Widget

Screenshot of my blog showing my Twitter Widget. Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! For this week, (4th week Twitter task) I decided to redo my widget on my blog account since I changed my theme, why not change it as well? Right? Hahaha. I used my personal Twitter account as that is where I post my Unity tutorials and reading updates as well. The Tech Tip instructions are very easy to follow and you guys should check it out! :)

Reading 03

Reflection An image of the notes I wrote while reading the Articles. Hi everyone! For this week's reading task, we were instructed to set up our research about the topic we chose for our Writing project. We will also have to create annotated bibliographies for the first three articles, books, or documents that we have discovered as well as writing a short summary. At first, I found it challenging to start doing my research as I do not have enough effective keywords that I could use. Therefore, I only found few books that I thought would be useful for my chosen topic.  Before starting this project, I was confident that I had enough knowledge about the Hierarchy of challenges in gameplay. However, I was wrong as this topic is very broad and it was difficult for me to find the specific articles and documents that I needed. I decided to do everything again from the start where I look up useful keywords that would work for the topic and I als

Unity Tutorial 02

Unity Tutorial 02 screenshot of my work. For this week's Unity Tutorial, we must complete two things such as decorating the world of our 2D games using the tiles that we converted into sprites. I had fun decorating my game and I really took time to place the objects where I think it looks good. I think it is good that we can design our game as we can add as many things as we can. I also learned how to add a physics system to our player controller therefore it does not fall when I play the game. I was also thought about how to adjust the box collider in the 2D version and it does not really have a difference between the 3D versions. Problem: While I was doing the tutorial, I was distracted by the heading of the "Ruby Controller" as the first letter was not in a capital letter. I decided to rename and when I added new codes onto the player, it was not working anymore, and I was having trouble looking for the error. I tried again the next day and it still did not work as I h

Tech Tip: Blogger Template

A screenshot of my new blog template! Hi guys! I decided to change my blogger template as it is a new semester. (New semester, new template hahaha) I really like this theme because the orange background colour stands out from the dark theme of this template. I also change the font colour on the Title header, and the colour of the link when it hovers. I hope you like as much as I do!

Planning

Image of my brainstorm from Notes. Hi guys, it is me again!  For this blog, I will talk about how I will plan my research strategy for our Writing Project. The first topic that I decided to write about is Gameplay, focusing especially on the Hierarchy of Challenges in a game. I remember we read an article about this topic during the last semester and I was really interested in it. A topic such as how the level of difficulty can affect the player mentally and how do we plan it really stood out to me. I am looking forward to doing my research and being able to write a book about it! This week, a staff from the Library, Lindsay, visited us during our lecture to talk about how the online library site could help us gather information for our writing project. She also went through the website of the Library such as how to use it, how to borrow a book online, and most importantly, she showed us how to reference correctly and organize our work in an easier way by using RefWorks  which was ve

2D Unity Tutorial 1

Ruby's Adventure   2D Unity Tutorial screenshot of my work. Hi guys! It is been a while since my last blog post here and I kind of missed writing here.  My first ever blog post for this semester is about my Unity Tutorial in 2D. The tutorial for this week has four parts and each has different stages to complete. The first part was going through the layout of Unity again, but this time it is in the 2D version. The instructions were straightforward and the only difference from the 3D tutorial is that they are only texts and few demonstrations which I think is not bad as well. Sometimes, I have to look up video tutorials in some parts of the tutorials because it is hard to envision it. Especially when I started to design my game using the Tile Palette. Luckily, I found this helpful video showing how to use it. I feel comfortable coding a 2D game even though this is my first time doing it. It is clearer and easier to understand than 3D in my opinion. Hopefully, I will still enjoy it a

Beta

When Unity takes a long time to load Screenshot with the sound effects Hi guys~ For this week's project update, I tried to create my menu scene again but I still have a LOT of problems. At first, I tried to follow the same tutorial from this week's lab work task  and sadly it still did not work even though Shaun advised that I should not use the TextMesh Pro font as we thought it was the one that causes the problem. The tutorial was straightforward, but Unity kept crashing down, and even though I have all of it save during the process, everything that I have done still got deleted. I decided to look for another tutorial for the Main Menu, I found this 5-minute video tutorial . I find it helpful and it is simpler than the first tutorial. Unfortunately, while I'm nearly done making it, Unity crashed again, so I ended up having nothing is done which is very frustrating because I want to make a decent game by the end of this semester and Unity isn't cooperating :(. The only
