Reading 07: Applying the Feedback

An image of a typewriter by Mylucie We were given a task this week to review the annotated bibliographies of other students in our year and give them critical feedback at the end. It was interesting to read other student's work because everyone has a unique style of writing therefore it was nice to see how they talk about their topics. It also helped me to recognize what I was missing from my own work and what I needed to improve. For example, I need to include an introduction and a conclusion on each of my themes as I thought we only must write them after we have talked about the themes, however,  I found out that it is also a whole separate introduction and conclusion for the overall topic. I also have to recheck my citations and make sure that I reference my work correctly as well.  I am also happy to get critical feedback from other students as it really helped me to organize and modify my work better. As you open the link above, you will see the texts I added in orange color w

Unity Tutorial 07 : The END~

My Imperfect Game is Done! For this week, we have to finish our 2D Game tutorials, at last! As you can see, my game does not look that great especially when you look at the health bar :( though it's okay as long as my game works, it is all that matters hahaha. I am so happy that I complete the game a week early because then I can focus on the reading tasks more and on other modules as well. To complete this week's tasks, I have to add the audio and music background in the game to prevent the players from bored. We also have to go through the game settings how to change some things e.g. Name of the game, company, and how you want the logo to appear, and lastly, we then download our game to play it. Here are the lists of things that I have learned throughout the week: - In the 2D game, the sounds play at the same volume regardless of wherever the character is on the game. -Meanwhile, in the 3D game,  the sound plays at different volumes, and indifferent speakers based on where

Unity tutorial 06

A screenshot of my game. For this week, we have to design our game by adding a health bar at the top right corner of the screen. We also have to insert a dialogue box for the Non-Player Character which I found really cool as Ruby goes closer to it, the texts appear. This week's tasks are very relaxed because the instructions were easy and straightforward compared to the previous week. Since I completed the first tasks this week earlier, doing the last part was quick and I also found a video on YouTube called Unity 2D Beginner demonstrating the tutorials as well. I recommend everyone who's struggling with Unity Tutorials to check it out because it was very handy to have since we were used to watching tutorials in a video version last semester. I also encountered some problems during this week. Although, they were not major therefore I fixed them after a while. Here are the lists of the things I have learned this week: - I have discovered how Unity renders a UI, and how we can

Unity Tutorial 5

Screenshot of my overall work Hi guys, I was not able to upload a new Unity tutorial blog last week as I was not able to fix the problem throughout the whole week and I have had to work on other modules. Therefore, this is the only time I get to write a blog :(. I nearly gave up fixing my game because there were few errors that I do not know came from and I was given a bit of advice to repeat the last tasks I was doing even though the errors were still there so I think of starting over again which made me stressed more! Fortunately, I tried to check my codes again and there it was! I found the missing code and the errors are gone!! You cannot imagine how happy I was hahaha.  Even some of my character is not perfectly working, I was still able to continue working with the other tutorials as it says that it's not a major problem and I can just go back and fix it anytime whenever I want to so it is all good! I also find this week's tutorial easy enough and it did not have many s

Reading 06: Doing our first literature review

Writing Image. Annotated Bibliography  link. For this week's writing task, we have to begin writing the content of our first literature review which is referring to the themes we have gathered from the annotated bibliography notes that we have written for the past two weeks. I found I challenging to write the literature review as the themes I have are all connected. Therefore, I had to make sure that they are in order to show a better understanding of each theme. I also realized this week that I did our last week's tasks wrong because we supposed to highlight the themes from our annotated bibliographies not from the articles we have gathered so I ended up doing it again but it was not a difficult task so I was able to finish it quick. It was also hard for me to choose the right information to include in my literature review because my notes were long and it really took me a while to decide what points are important to talk about. There we also some other topics that I think wou

Tech-Tip: Hashtags and Retweets

Screenshot of what I retweeted For this week's extra credit task, I decided to do the retweeting and using hashtags. The image above shows what I've retweeted. This image came up when I searched #OU3043 and I really like this painting because of its contrast and how the light focuses on the center of the painting making its viewers look straight into the middle. I also tried to look up some hashtags and I found a lot of essential and interesting artworks from #cartoon #art that I checked. I love drawing and I am starting to find my own style and I think that this would really help me improve my drawing skills.

Unity Tutorial 04

A screenshot of my work while adding animation A screenshot of the errors I've encountered. Hi guys, this week's tutorial is getting more difficult as we have to add an animation to the game to show that the player is moving physically in the game and we also have to do the same for the Enemy Controller. However, after fixing the errors from last week, another problem occurred while I am at the end of the last tutorial. My Enemy Controller is only moving to the right and I do not know how to fix that. There was also an error saying that the code "Move X" and "broken" does not exist even though it was the right code from the tutorial. Even though I was having a lot of trouble completing this week's tutorial, I was able to fix myPlayer Controller and add a projectile to it which was her weapon.  I still could not complete this week's tutorials but I will try my best to fix them the next week!
